Mask of the Dragon

Mask of the Dragon (Rise of the Dragonfly, #1)Mask of the Dragon by Ashleigh D.J. Cutler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mask of the Dragon is a contemporary paranormal tale. The main character, Abby, loses her parents at a young age. She is then taken in by her overly religious aunt who after seeing Abby’s unnatural attachment to her imaginary friend takes the girl to a psychiatrist. After realizing that she would be cast out of her new home for insisting on the presence of her imaginary friend, she starts keeping things to herself. As she ages, the friend, or dragon as it were, starts to develop a personality all its own and Abby begins to wonder if he is imaginary at all…

I would first like to state that I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway. Despite this book being a bit on the preachy side I did enjoy it. The characters are well rounded and amusing and the plot keeps you guessing as to the true identity of the dragon. The ending was satisfying but still leaves a few questions unanswered therefore setting the stage for the sequel, forthcoming. I must confess, I am curious to see where things will go from here.
